Night Skincare Routine #1

Written by G.K.

Tonight (or today for some of you) I'm going to talk about my night skincare routine. It works great for me but we are all different so please, take that in consideration before reading the article.
To understand my skin & products I will talk a little bit about my background.

I'm French and lived in Paris my entire life until I moved the Melbourne, Australia two years ago. I had dry skin for 24 years basically, never had acne and rarely breakouts (lucky me) until my big move to Australia, my skin has turned to something disgustingly oily and I have breakouts a few times per month. So unusual for me that I had to try something completely new and let me tell you that it took me a long, long time. This is going to sound weird but I think my skin is used to the Parisian pollution and is missing home as much as I do.

I'm going to start with two French products that I know by heart. My mum sends them to me when I run out (thanks mum if you read this <3).

The funny thing about these products is that when I was a teenager my Grandma bought me Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, saying I should be using that product and only that one for the rest of my life. I was going to my Grandma's house every week end and what I loved the most was to be able to play with all her make up and beauty products. Embryolisse was a product that she always had as well as the single eye shadows and blushes from Bourjois. This was more than 10 years ago. Since then I've always had a tube and that's probably the most precious skincare advice I've been given.
It moisturises your skin like nothing else will, it smells divine and leaves a silky feeling that is unbelievable. I actually can't describe how good this product is.

The second one is Bioderma Créaline H20. Same as Embryolisse, precious advice from my Grandma. I have tried a ridiculous amount of make up removers.
I always come back to Bioderma. There's a reason why everyone likes that one. It removes your make up in one go. When I say "remove" it takes EVERYTHING off. You don't need to you use one million cotton pads. Sometimes, when I'm tired I don't even wash my face afterwards and it leaves it feeling clean.
You can also use it all over your face, eyes included. It removes all your mascara, it doesn't dry out your skin and definitely helps your oily skin.
This product is a miracle, if you can, please get your hands on that one.

Obviously, this is my skincare routine so I'm going to just talk about products I love. BUT this one is incredible. Lush Dark Angels is my holy grail. I swear I will be using that one forever. One of my friend, Sam (if you read that, I love you girl) works for Lush and what I love about it is that she is 100% honest with me and recommends me the best products for my skin and I know I can trust her eyes closed. I can only imagine how things would be without this product and I'm so glad I trusted her.
This thing is the best exfoliator you will ever try. YOU NEED THIS ASAP. It's life changing.
First time I tried it with my partner, he hates anything related to cosmetics but he trusts my friend Sam and what she picked up for us. Thanks to Lush, our boyfriends find their products funny and weird enough to use them.
When I first applied Dark Angels, I couldn't get over the smell, it's intense but I'm now used to it and love the charcoal scent. I exfoliated my skin and left it on a couple of minutes. After using it I couldn't believe how good my skin looked, I have never had such a great feeling of cleanliness (and it lasted all day). My skin has never been this clean. I'm a big fan of deep exfoliators/scrubs. If it's light I'm not interested, I like when it cleans for real. That little pot is what you need, believe me you won't be disappointed.

I picked up Neutrogena Body Lotion because I loved the smell. I like creams/lotions that sink into the skin within seconds and that's what I'm looking for when I try out skin products at the chemist. That one worked perfectly for me so I picked it up. I use it at night just before sleeping to hydrate my skin after the shower, it works perfectly, it's cheap, it's easy, why not?
I think Neutrogena is underrated, all their products are fantastic especially their new Neutrogena Naturals. Highly recommend anything from the brand. Amazing quality.

Ohhh Lush Grease Lightning.... Did you know that Lush is my favorite brand? well now you know. Again something recommended by my dear friend Sam, I'm actually so thankful for her advice because my skin has been great lately. I was using just simple tea tree oil on my breakouts/pimples. But now i put Grease Lightning at night on the spot(s) and I swear in the morning it is so small and tiny I can't see it. I use it as well as a prevention when I feel something is about to happen and it helps so much.
This product is to just apply where you need it because it dries out your skin. Yes, it's a miracle. Drop everything you've used before and go treat yourself to this little guy. Let me know how you go with it !

And finally, I end with the Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm. I use it first on my cuticles for a few minutes before applying it all over my hands, the smell is calming and relaxing which is great before bed and it hydrates your skin smoothly. It sinks in slowly, which is why I use it at night :)
Great product !!

Please comment below to let us know if you've tried any of these products and what you think about them.
